Local AI.
Your device.
Your terms.
Run AI directly on your own computer — without sending your work to a third party. No coding. No jargon. No hype.
Most people who use AI tools have had this moment: you paste something in — a draft, a strategy doc, a piece of internal communication — and then, almost immediately, you pause.
"Should I have done that?"
That hesitation is the starting point for local AI. This guide shows you a practical alternative: run the model directly on your machine, with no data sent anywhere.
It is honest about what local AI can and cannot do. It does not overpromise privacy or performance. It just shows you how to get something working — and how to use it for real work.
What's inside
Six modules that build logically — from understanding why local AI matters to running real workflows the same day.
Module 01
Why Local AI Matters Now
What most people do not think about when they use cloud AI tools — and why the question of where your data goes is worth asking.
Module 02
How Local AI Works
A plain-language explanation of inference, tokens, and context windows. No computer science background required.
Module 03
Can Your Device Run It?
A 30-second check covering RAM, processor, and storage. Most modern laptops qualify. You will know in under a minute.
Module 04
Step-by-Step Setup
Real screenshots. One free tool (LM Studio). From zero to your first local prompt in about 10 minutes.
Module 05
How to Choose the Right Model
A simple decision framework — without downloading everything or reading technical benchmarks.

Common questions
Do I need a technical background?
No. If you can install an app, you can do this. The guide uses plain language throughout and includes real screenshots for every step.
Will local AI work on my device?
Module 3 includes a 30-second check. Most modern laptops with 8 GB of RAM or more can run local AI. Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and later) are the best consumer option right now.
Is local AI private?
Local AI can reduce external data sharing, but it is not automatically private. The guide explains exactly what "local" means, where the limits are, and how to set things up correctly.
Will this replace ChatGPT or Claude?
No. Local AI is a different option — useful for work you would rather keep off third-party servers. The guide is honest about where local models fall short.
What tool does the guide use?
LM Studio — free, Mac and Windows, no account required. The full setup is covered with real screenshots in Module 4.
